Wisdome LA is comprised of Five Domes, Characterized by 360° multidimensional projection technology. The concept was developed by Fulldome Pro, an immersive digital systems company that specializes in the production of convenient, planetarium style domes used for Digital Art Installations. Their construction of Wisdome LA is the perfect addition to the small Art District of Downtown Los Angeles. Located in between a sequence of worn down sidewalks, and industrial businesses, the site can appear completely unassuming, or entirely otherworldly, depending on the time of day that you arrive. Samskara denotes the indian philosophy of psychological impressions, but now it is also the nomenclature for the Art Installation at Wisdome LA, by Android Jones; the self proclaimed master of Electro-Mineralism. Jones is renowned for his portfolio of digitized art, featured on album covers, and in high profile events, including some of his own live performances, and noteworthy exhibits.
The entrance to Wisdome LA can be described as a kaleidoscope of mixed medium sculptures slathered in neon paint, that tug at the notion of an alternate universe. The first dome is a small expanse characterized by a cluster of pillow seats designed for guests to sit down, and stare up at the immersive introduction to the Samskara Experience. The second dome (a much larger structure) houses the main exhibit where an arrangement of vibrant portraits line the interior space. Each portrait is positioned under a fluorescent spot light that highlights the striking, hypercolor tints within its print. Soft, dark futons line the middle of the room for visitors to lie on, and look up at the immersive multi dimensional Samskara view, while the wall to wall projection creates a vacuum effect that enables the viewer to push the boundaries of their own psychological imagery. The immersion is all- encompassing, and the graphics are extremely surreal.
Jones’ work is filled with lush, dreamlike illustrations that convey his rendition of spiritual awakening. His integration of Dynamic Animation, Psychological Symbolism, Fractal Patterns, and overlapping Chaos culminates in a Psychedelic Fantasy. The experience is then compounded by all of the vibrant hues spread throughout his art; tones so bright that they almost seem radioactive. The Visual and Acoustic Fantasy that Jones puts together is nothing short of captivating. The myriad of images that signify Love, Shamanism, Politics, Collective Consciousness, and Brutality is mesmerizing, and the result is an art installation that viewers of all ages can enjoy. Between the mix of live music, food, bright lights, and open interaction between a wide range of eclectic individuals, the atmosphere is wispy, and fun. This is an adventure designed to get your mind off of the daily conundrum, and into a joyous aura.
